The Gascoyne Junction is a town rich in heritage and history, breathtaking views and some very interesting characters.

For over 100 years, “The Junction” has been a meeting place for local pastoralists and townspeople alike and has a population of approximately 250, with the town offering a range of facilities and activities for residents.

A sports oval and tennis courts in the centre of town is the focus for sporting activities within the Shire. Adjoining the Oval is the Gascoyne Junction Pavilion, a fully air-conditioned venue, where public and private events are frequently held.

A bright new children’s playground is located on the main street, while the Federation Park beside the oval has a pleasant rotunda, providing shade for a lunchtime stop as well as free gas BBQ and wood fired pizza oven.

The Junction Pub & Tourist Park is the only fuel outlet from Carnarvon and carries a small line of convenience, grocery and automotive supplies.

The town includes a Remote Community School, a Community Resource Centre (CRC) and also has a sealed air-strip with pilot activated lights (PAL) which is used by the Royal Flying Doctor Service.

An Awesome Travel Experience
On our first night we stayed at the Junction Pub & Tourist Park – the whole experience was a pleasant surprise. Our journey to ‘the Junction’ involved rain, mud and dust so we decided to avail ourselves of an ensuite site and stay for a few days to recuperate. The managers could not have been more helpful in getting us settled. The ensuite amenities were very spacious – one of the best we’ve experienced. The council is to be congratulated on the work done in providing this great facility and finding good staff to run it. By the way, the hamburgers and chips were delicious as were the scrambled eggs and bacon for breakfast. What a great place to use as a base to visit the National Parks of the Kennedy Range and Mount Augustus. Thank Gascoyne Junction for being there for travellers such as us, we recommend it.
